Shire Hall Historic Courthouse & Museum, Dorchester
The Shire Hall is Dorset’s newest museum and has opened its doors to much acclaim in the history and heritage sector. It has quickly established itself as a first-class immersive visitor attraction with interactive displays that guide you through the cells and well-preserved courtroom.
The current building has been the setting of much justice and injustice since its conception in 1797. The walls of the historic courthouse and cells are world-famous for many notable trials including that of the Tolpuddle Martyrs in 1834.
