Dorset County Museum, Dorchester
The Dorset County Museum was first established in 1845 by poet William Barnes and other notable local figures. The current museum building dates back to 1881 and was built on the site of the Old George Inn.
In 2018 we were invited to conduct a period of research ahead of the multi million pound refurbishments currently in progress. Our 3 nights of research were concluded within days of the doors closing on this current chapter of the museum.
A report of our findings is available including areas that we have been the last to ever document. It’s been a privilege to spend time in these areas and preserve their detail for all time.
As a team we look forward to continued involvement with Dorset County Museum for many years to come. Contact us to find out more about our report.
